Whether you're just starting out and want to try something new, or want to hone your skills and work your way into a competitive squad, Dev is the place for you. Training takes place twice a week, with a targeted training schedule to build on all aspects of your game throughout the year. Training is run by our Development captains and officers, with the assistance of captains of the competitive squads, who lend their expertise and keep an eye out for players ready to join the 3rd XI

 

We organise friendly games against other universities' development squads to build players' confidence, ready for the showdown against York at Roses in Summer term.

Whilst there is opportunity for aspiring members to progress to competitive teams, most importantly, we want you to have fun and make some great friends, be it at trainings or at socials.

With the aid from our Development Officers, Ava, Talia and Josh, we will be running your Dev Squad sessions. Whether you have never picked up a hockey stick, are just wanting to play at a relaxed level, or are looking to progress towards our competitive squads, development squad is for everyone. Together, our goal is to help you enjoy every minute of your hockey experience with us and leave your stamp on the club! As players ourselves, we are willing and capable to help you improve at the sport. Dev offers a great opportunity to make friends through the sport, as we are a close-knit community, enjoying relaxed get-togethers and the odd karaoke off the pitch, as well as Wednesday and Saturday socials with the wider club.
